The Role:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best data technologies into frustration-free cloud services. You’ll be part of the team that is focused on developing the relational database services and improving their scalability and reliability for our customers and OEM partners.

Our philosophy is to deliver efficient and scalable solutions by continuously evolving and enhancing our product capabilities. Our own backend systems are mostly implemented in Python with bits of Java, Go and C.

What You'll Do:

• Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features.
• Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews.
• Contribute to technical planning and backlog management.
• Help investigate and resolve customer issues.
• Develop and improve the scalability and reliability of the  data services powered by Aiven.

What We're Looking For:

Must Have:

• Excellent development skills
• Experience working with one of these databases - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, OracleDB
• Experience with automated testing
• Distributed systems knowledge
• Fluency in English, verbal and written.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Python in production environments
• Hands-on experience with some of the following systems: Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Redis/Valkey
• Good understanding of security (software, networking)
• Experience and/or interest in infrastructure as code
• Experience in production software environments
