THE ROLE: UX Designer
American Student Assistance™ (ASA) is changing the way kids learn about careers and navigate postsecondary pathways through exploration, work-based learning, and free digital experiences.
ASA meets students both in and beyond the classroom with digital tools, resources, and information to empower their career planning journeys. We believe that exploring career possibilities, as early as middle school, and having equitable access to education-to-career pathways aligned with one’s passions and goals will result in greater confidence and long-term success for all students.
We are looking for a UX Designer to work on educational applications for youth audiences (ages 13–24). Ideal candidates will have experience designing engaging, accessible, and intuitive digital platforms, with a strong grasp of front-end technologies, human-centered design, and usability testing. They are comfortable collaborating across teams, yet capable of working independently, and thrive in a mission-driven environment. This role will be eager to blaze our UX trail, share best practices, and contribute to a user-centered design culture.
As a UX Designer, you will research, design, and optimize user experiences for a large and diverse youth audience across multiple devices. You will develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, perform usability testing, and integrate user feedback into iterative improvements. Working closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, you will ensure that our platforms are engaging, accessible, scalable, and mission aligned. Additionally, you will contribute to light front-end work, graphical design and media work, admin interface design, and performance monitoring to maintain seamless user experiences.
