As the Carbon Analyst of a nature-based solutions company committed to developing high-quality voluntary carbon offset projects, this person will be a high energy individual with strong natural resource management experience.
The Carbon Analyst performs spatial and data analyses for forest carbon offset project development. The Analyst’s work will center around inventory data management and carbon quantification, forest growth and yield modeling, carbon accounting, and detailed documentation of all project-related work products. This includes, but is not limited to, processing and analyzing large quantities of field data, analyzing land cover using Arc GIS, utilizing forest growth and yield models such as FVS, managing incoming inventory data, documenting work products, and assisting with project development activities.

At Chestnut Carbon, a nature-based solutions company, we're on a mission to help conserve America's forests and empower private forest owners to take stewardship of their land. We’re seeking a Carbon Analyst who is passionate about forestry and natural resource management. In this remote role, you will be responsible for conducting spatial and data analyses for our carbon offset projects, ensuring they meet top industry standards like Verra and Gold Standard. You will manage and analyze large quantities of forest data, develop growth and yield models using the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS), and assist in delivering high-quality documentation and maps for carbon offset verifications. This is a hands-on position involving the organization of forest inventory data in Excel, as well as collaborating across teams to maintain accuracy in all deliverables. If you have an undergraduate or master’s degree in forestry, GIS, or environmental studies, along with a keen understanding of forest management practices and regulations, we would love to hear from you! With your analytical and problem-solving skills, you will play a key role in our conservation efforts, all while being supported by a diverse, inclusive, and dynamic team.
