Technical Writer III

First Division Consulting is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.

Hybrid (3-5 days per week in the office)

Primary duties will include:

  • Develop, write, and edit technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and system specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Create and maintain documentation templates and standards.
  • Review and update existing documentation to ensure consistency and compliance with government standards.
  • Conduct research and analysis to understand technical concepts and effectively communicate them to a non-technical audience.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and presentations.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably within the USMC or Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and terminology.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
