GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Applicant must have earned a two-year college degree (associate degree) or higher from an accredited institution of higher education. The degree must be in Criminal Justice, Emergency Medicine, or an appropriate, related field approved by the MDE program coordinator.
2. Technology Literacy and Related Assessment of that Competency
Applicant must validate technology competency by attaining the established minimum score or higher on an assessment approved by the Mississippi Department of Education
(MDE). The assessment must be directly related to technology competency required by the grade level and subject matter being taught. Approved assessments for this license are IC3, Propulse, or other specific assessment created by third-party vendors, authorized by the Local Education Agency (LEA) and approved by the MDE.
3. Occupational Experience and Related Assessment of that Experience
Applicants with an associate degree must have at least three years of verifiable occupational experience in the past ten years. The experience must be appropriate to the subject to be taught. Applicants with a bachelor or higher degree must have at least one year of verifiable occupational experience in the past ten years. The experience must be appropriate to the
subject to be taught.
Applicant must possess and maintain a Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)Trainer Certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
· Apply knowledge of law, law enforcement, and public safety to lead students to gain skills and understanding of the principles needed to pursue a career in law enforcement and/or public safety.
· Lead students to the acquisition industry recognized certifications in law enforcement and public safety.
· Make industry connections promoting service learning, cooperative education, and work-based learning
opportunities for the students.
· Assist students as an advisor for student organization and participation in law and public safety competitions.
· Recognizing and responding appropriately to individual differences in students.
· Develops lesson plans and plans lessons in a logical sequence.
· Collaborating with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students.
· Participating in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
· Administering group standardized tests as required.
· Using a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance.
· Utilizing technology and the devices as a tool in the teaching and learning process.
· Providing an environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.
· Consistently implementing approved disciplinary actions to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.
· Relating to parents and other community members in a positive and helpful manner.
· Participating in school and district professional development in order to support school improvement and support student learning.
Attending staff meetings and serve on committees as required.Enforcing rules and regulations as stated in the teacher and student handbook. Adhering to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines
