Senior Brand Designer

Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.

About the role

We’re looking for a talented Senior Designer to join our growing in-house creative studio. Reporting to the Head of Creative, you’ll be responsible for developing effective, exciting and relevant work that resonates with both our B2C and B2B audience. You’ll know how to drive growth in different channels while always communicating our hero brand positioning. You’ll work with the other designers and copywriters as well our network of external agency partners. 

You are a strategic thinker, problem solver and a proactive cross-functional partner who can deliver business-driving ideas. The creative scope will include integrated 360 campaigns, branding, growth initiatives, digital design, CRM, and more. So you’ll need brilliant conceptual thinking as well as superb designer skills.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop creative concepts for a variety of communications, including high-visibility print, digital campaigns, digital social content, growth, and performance marketing.
  • Develop creative concepts that take into account industry trends and best practices to drive design decisions driven by an understanding of our customers.
  • Brief and direct external agencies and freelance talent where necessary, providing clear, constructive feedback and direction, ensuring a consistent look and feel of the Motorway brand. 
  • Support our wider Design team to evolve our brand and visual guidelines taking us to the next level.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Product Designers to bring the new brand and visual guidelines through to Product.
  • Provide Art Direction for stills shoots for owned channels to build out our image library.
  • Work closely with the Head of Creative and wider brand Creative Team to ensure visual excellence across all platforms and channels. 
  • Champion bold and powerful creative work and continually push boundaries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing to help translate briefs into a compelling creative solution and ensure brand consistency at all times.
  • A willingness to take creative risks but also to follow and interpret creative direction.
  • Striking a balance between performance-led creativity and maintaining brand consistency.
  • Understanding the critical metrics impacted by design decisions and iterating creatively.
  • Contributing creative ideas in brainstorming sessions to enhance overall design quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in graphic design and branding to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of our visual assets.
  • Hands-on experience as a Brand Designer in a commercial environment.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking, the highest visual design standards and experience working across a variety of brand comms projects.
  • You have experience running design projects independently, from ideation and research through to presenting mock-ups and producing final assets in print and digital formats.
  • Strong communication skills ensure you can confidently & effectively convey creative visions to stakeholders and align team efforts with company objectives in cross-functional settings. As well as an openness to seek & give constructive feedback.
  • Team player that’ll fit into our design-driven and collaborative teams.
  • Ability to provide art direction for smaller scale projects, being a brand steward especially when collaborating with freelancers or external agencies. 
  • Completely at home working in Figma and Adobe CS.
  • You are able to work reactively and at speed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional skillsets are a big plus eg. motion, 3D, illustration etc
