Fuze and Warhead Principal Systems Test Engineer
Job Summary
Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Test Engineer at our Missile Products Division in our Plymouth, MN location. The Test Engineer will have proven leadership abilities, experience with life cycle testing, data acquisition and analysis, instrumentation and familiarity with test facility capabilities. Responsibilities will include planning and execution of test program plans, interfacing with internal and external customers, analyzing results and test reporting. The successful candidate will be experienced with environmental, EMI/EMC and testing of energetic devices to ensure highly reliable, safe and efficient execution of planned test activities
Responsibilities
- Prepare test plans, coordinate with test facilities, provide test execution oversight, analyze test data and prepare final test reports.
- Resolve test related technical issues and support failure and analysis activities.
- Develop test methods for climatic, vibration and mechanical shock, electromagnetic effects, bench testing of electronic devices, and safety and reliability testing.
- Develop data analysis methods including data compilation and correlation, markings, preparation of data summaries, and data archiving.
- Scheduling and cost management
- Define test instrumentation requirements.
- Support Systems engineering in review and development of storage and operational life cycle requirements.
- Support all aspects of testing, evaluation and validation of complete system and or subsystems.
- Support major program reviews such as SRR, SDR, SFR, PDR, CDR, SVR and other formal program reviews.
- With proper training must be willing to be in the presence of and handle hazardous devices.
- Ability to travel (up to 50%)
Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (3 years with a master’s degree)
- BS in Aeronautical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with climatic, vibration, mechanical shock, Electromagnetic Effects (EME), and Insensitive Munitions (IM) Testing.
- Understanding of energetic testing, components and materials.
- Understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-331, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-S-901, MIL-STD-2105, JOTP-052 and JOTP-053 standards and guidelines.
- Familiarity of commercial and government test facilities for environmental and EME test activities.
- Familiar with signal analysis tools such as MATLAB and MS EXCEL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be U.S. Citizen and can obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
