Description

SCHEDULE:  40 hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., evenings and weekends as needed

 

LOCATION: Office located at 105 Chauncey Street and Community Based as needed


SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Associate Director of Outreach Housing Placement provides leadership and guidance to program staff who place unsheltered homeless clients into housing and provide stabilization services after housing placement. This position will supervise the managers responsible for the staff who pursue these activities. 


The Associate Director will focus on developing and maintaining internal systems related to enrollment in housing placement activities, identifying suitable housing pathways for clients, tracking client progress including document readiness, and building relationships with relevant housing providers including PSI Housing and the Boston Housing Authority. The Associate Director will work within a best practice framework of Stages of Change Theory, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-informed Care and will mitigate barriers to housing.  


This key position will interface with other elements of PSI’s Outreach programs, PSI Housing Placement programs, PSI Housing, the Boston Housing Authority, the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of Housing, MA Department of Mental Health, Saint Francis House and Boston Health Care for the Homeless to achieve optimal collaboration. 

Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING:


REQUIRED: 

  • BA or BS in a related field or four (4) years human services or housing experience
  • A valid Massachusetts Driver’s License in good standing

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


REQUIRED: 

  • Minimum of four (4) years case management experience in a homeless or housing setting
  • Two (2) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience in housing search/coordination of housing services
  • Working knowledge of human services systems, housing subsidy programs and homeless referral networks 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and situations
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge, sensitivity and cultural competency around issues related to homelessness, trauma, mental illness, addiction, and diverse vulnerable populations
  • Strong computer skills including familiarity with Excel and database programs
  • Strong Commitment to the Housing First and Harm Reduction approach

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with Housing First and Harm Reduction approach 
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
