In this role, you will play a critical role in a corporation by overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls across the corporation and its subsidiaries to ensure the company's financial health and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for managing accounting operations, analyzing financial data to support strategic decision-making, and implementing policies that safeguard assets and optimize financial performance. Additionally, you will lead audit processes, tax planning, and risk management efforts while collaborating with executives to drive profitability and operational efficiency. This role will partner closely with the Senior Finance Manager, other key executives, and report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Job Description:
As the Controller at Prompt, you will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department by managing various financial and administrative tasks across multiple organizations. You will work closely with the Finance Department and Chief Financial Officer to ensure the smooth operation of our internal and external financial processes, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements
Maintain compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Oversee and lead external audits as well as being the main liaison with auditors
Develop and enforce internal financial policies and procedures
Implement and maintain strong internal control systems through partnership with Department Heads
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process and financial planning
Provide variance analysis and financial performance insights
Develop forecasts to support strategic decision-making
Work with department heads to optimize financial resources
Accounting Operations Management
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable with support from Senior Financial Accountant and Customer Finance Lead
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes as well as produce reporting for the CFO and the Board
Manage tax reporting (and vendors), while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal laws
Improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls including the migration of accounting platforms
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational stability
Optimize working capital and manage banking relationships
Develop cash management strategies to maximize efficiency
Oversee debt management and financial risk assessment
Strategic Financial Leadership
Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making
Collaborate with the CFO and leadership team on business strategy
Evaluate financial impacts of mergers, acquisitions, and investments
Drive process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
Lead the growth and development of team members in the department including onboarding and hiring plans as well as continued training
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
Master’s in Accounting/MBA/CPA Certification preferred
At least 3-5 years of experience in a Controller position
Experience in private sector accounting including leading teams
Demonstrated understanding of G.A.A.P., financial statements, tax compliance, etc.
Experience leading external financial audits
Working understanding of QuickBooks or related accounting software
Proficiency in corporate tax compliance, tax provisions, and financial reporting
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local corporate tax laws and regulations
Exposure to multi-state and/or international tax
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Suite skills
Strong analytical, quantitative, attention to detail and organizational skills
Developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at the executive level
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Experience in managing diverse teams, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Experience working in hybrid situations
Willingness to travel to HQ
