Founding Product Manager

About Sunset

Sunset helps tech startups shut down by handling all the legal, tax, and operational burdens associated with winding down. We are the one-stop shop for dissolutions, ensuring founders and investors avoid penalties, reduce liabilities, and can immediately move on to what's next.

In just 1.5 years, we’ve helped over 200 venture-backed startups shut down, generating millions in revenue and raising millions from some of the world’s best investors.

About the Role

As a Founding Product Manager, you will be instrumental in the development and delivery of our dissolution services. You'll work closely with our clients, internal team members, legal counsel, and tax teams to ensure we build a world-class customer experience.

This role requires you to research and prioritize the most pressing problems, shape the product vision, ensure our team ships outstanding solutions, and synchronize with the entire team to get it adopted and improved.

This role is for you if:

  • Insanely Curious: You ask questions constantly and want to understand the why behind everything. You don’t immediately jump to a solution but work to distill the core problems at hand.

  • Operationally Excellent: You possess exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage and improve complex processes, streamline operations, and implement efficient workflows that enhance the overall customer experience.

  • Shipper: You’re not just a “strategy” person but someone who aims to ship. You’re able to prioritize what’s most important and work with team members to get it live.

This role is not for you If:

  • Mission Alignment: You aren’t excited by Sunset’s mission of helping founders move on to what's next, and supporting them through a challenging time.

  • Early-Stage Challenges: You’re not interested in early-stage startups.

  • Location: You don’t live in NYC or want to move to NYC.

  • Work Environment: You don’t want to work in person, 5 days a week in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

What success looks like in this role:

  • Shaping the Product Vision: Based on real-world problems that our customers and team are facing.

  • Shipping World-Class Products: Helping us deliver products on-time and without surprises.

  • Synchronizing with the Team: Ensuring everyone knows how to sell it, market it, adopt it, and onboard onto it.

In the first 6 months, you'll:

  • Learn: Immerse yourself in everything Sunset, our customers, and the dissolution process. Gain a comprehensive knowledge of our products, services, and industry landscape.

  • Analyze: Talk to our customers, internal team members, and partners to distill core problem areas and an end-to-end user journey.

  • Roadmap: Start owning the product roadmap alongside the C-Suite.

  • Ship: Own new features end-to-end, taking them from ideation to launch.

  • Measure: Start building dashboards and key metrics that help us know what success looks like for our customers and product team.

  • UX: Advocate for incredible user experiences, ensuring simplicity, elegance, and functionality in every feature we ship.

Benefits:

At Sunset, we believe in taking care of our team. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Health Coverage: We cover 100% of premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, offering the best and most comprehensive plans available.

  • Generous Time Off: Enjoy 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year, plus 9 company-wide holidays.

  • Office Setup Allowance: $500 allowance for your in-office desk setup, ensuring you have the tools you need to succeed.
