Business Analyst

Overview

Responsible for analyzing data and information from internal and external sources and systems and presenting key trends and recommendations to management and executive staff. The Business Analyst serves as an expert in using data and business intelligence (BI) to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.  Additional responsibilities include monitoring and providing data and information on current business operations and serving as a key resource for staff across the international product lines on internal and external strategic and operational customer and market data. The Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering data in different ways: mining JCI data, looking at international data and industry trends, and looking at potential new data sources across the Joint Commission enterprise. The individual will also lead and participate in groups concerning internal and external business trends.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and provide reports and analyses to assist leadership, marketing, the international product lines, and other business staff in making effective business decisions. Meet with staff to determine and refine data and information needs. Generate reports summarizing business trends, financial results, and other economic data. Manage timely flow of business intelligence information to management.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations on data analyses to senior management and other staff members. Help staff understand, interpret, and utilize data to refine and enhance strategic business decisions and business operations. Assist staff in the understanding and applicability of the data presented.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on industry and geographic trends with business strategy implications. Synthesize current and historical financial, other operational and trend data to support strategic initiatives and operational business requirements.
  • Provide product line analyses of historical sales trends and future growth projections to be used in budgeting revenue projections and resource requirements across the JCI business lines. Define, develop, and prepare key performance indicators (KPIs) for the JCI business lines as needed.
  • Ability to prepare business cases, develop proformas and conduct product evaluation analyses.
  • Lead and participate in groups on improving business processes based on the data and analyses prepared.
  • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools. Collaborate with staff in other departments to identify data needs for the creation of reports, dashboards, and/or other outputs.
  • Analyze competitive and market strategies through analyses of related product and market trends.

Qualifications

  • BA degree required, preferable in a related field, which may include business administration, business analytics, data science, statistics, or finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing business analytics solutions. Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and formal communication abilities to interact effectively and present findings with executives and staff at all levels in the organization. Able to communicate effectively in sensitive situations.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to think conceptually and understand complex business processes.
  • Adept at identifying problems and developing effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with highly sensitive confidential and proprietary information.
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization/Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Workday reporting is a plus.
  • Demonstrates success in meeting deadlines and assigned accountabilities for complex projects.
