Overview

UW Credit Union is hiring a Staff Auditor II to join our Audit team! If you are organized, detail-oriented and thrive on making process improvements, this is the job for you! As a Staff Auditor II, your knack for quality drives you to provide an objective assessment of the effectiveness of UW Credit Union operational processes, procedures, controls and systems. This position performs continuous review of internal systems to ensure they are functioning as designed, and that procedures comply with federal laws and regulations and internal policies. Without this, we wouldn’t have grown to become one of Wisconsin’s top financial institutions with over 350,000 members and $5 billion in assets.

With a naturally inquisitive mindset, the Staff Auditor II is responsible for developing and maintaining a high level of knowledge on Branch Operations, loan and deposit systems, policies and processes. As a trusted partner, the Staff Auditor II reviews member and internal staff activity on a continuous basis for accuracy and appropriate transaction authority, and promptly reports non-compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Complete branch audits to ensure consistent processes and procedures are followed.
  • Observe and walk through processes with branch staff and management.
  • Communicate observations and provide feedback on opportunities to improve processes and increase consistency in branch operations.
  • Continuously identifies opportunities for more efficient completion of quality review activities.
  • Review reports from the database monitoring system to identify unusual, suspicious or fraudulent activity.
  • Review file maintenance activity on a regular basis using various loan and deposit exception reports. Follow up on exceptions and report findings.
  • Review consumer loans originated throughout the credit union for reasonableness of interest rates and loan terms on new loans and recommends follow up.
  • Assist in reviewing consumer loans originated throughout the credit union for compliance with documentation procedures, underwriting guidelines, and board policies.
  • Assist in writing reports issued by the department.
  • Assist in the completion of required annual audits such as the Customer Identification Program and Confidential Information.
  • Assist in monitoring information regarding the completion of audit recommendations, which requires ongoing follow up with varying levels of management.
  • Assists internal audit firm as part of completing their annual audit plan.
  • Assist on special investigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field required; or equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • 4-5 years of financial industry experience.
  • 2-3 years of Audit experience required.
  • Additional experience in at least one of the following areas: accounting, auditing, loan underwriting, operations, project management, and/or deposit account management and review.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of internal controls procedures and the ability to analyze and interpret their application.
  • Able to travel to various UW Credit Union branches 1-2 times per month.
  • Able to work a hybrid schedule in Madison, WI
