Green Infrastructure- Subject Matter Expert

ERG is hiring an experienced Green Infrastructure- Subject Matter Expert to provide technical expertise in green infrastructure-related projects across the country. Green infrastructure, like trees and parks, can improve air quality by reducing pollutants and emissions, particularly from transportation, by acting as physical barriers and promoting dispersion. This position will work in developing ERG’s business in areas related to the intersection of green infrastructure and air quality related benefits in the state, local, and international markets. 


The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic business planning, leading client acquisition efforts in coordination with existing ERG staff and developing high-quality delivery of technical solutions. This individual will act as a key liaison between upper management, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders, while leading client-facing technical presentations and collaboration meetings. 


Job Description:
  • The following are the anticipated responsibilities for this position: 

Market Research:
  • Identify green infrastructure related to new business opportunities, markets, and trends
  • Work with the ERG team to develop strategic business development plans focused on state, local, and international clients 
  • Leading technical presentations to existing and prospective clients

Stakeholder Management:
  • Act as the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective technical information sharing
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients 

Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior, mid-level and senior scientists, engineers and technicians, providing direction, feedback, and support for technical aspects of green infrastructure related work
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous improvement

Project Management:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from conception through completion
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, product management, and manufacturing to align goals with overall project objectives


Qualifications and Skills:
  • A Ph.D. is a minimum requirement for this position 
  • Ph. D in Environmental/Mechanical/Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 25 years of work experience with at least 20 years of experience in green infrastructure
  • Expertise in designing studies for evaluating and implementing green infrastructure related benefits including air quality, near-road air pollution reduction, emissions dispersion, reducing the urban heat island effect, improving stormwater management, and enhancing biodiversity
  • Significant expertise in developing and delivering technical presentations related to green infrastructure air quality benefits and implementation processes at the state, local, and international level
  • Significant experience of working internationally with an established base of potential clients
  • Experience in writing scientific, technical, quality assurance, and health & safety documents
  • Extensive experience in implementing organizational quality assurance plans and quality management practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening


$85 - $100 an hour

ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience.
