Vice President of Sales - Transportation Consulting

Our Transportation Consulting firm partners with municipalities, public, private, and nonprofit clients to shape the future of transportation, infrastructure, and communities. With expertise spanning strategy, advisory, planning, and design, we help clients achieve meaningful results and exceed their financial and strategic goals.

Our team consists of passionate transportation professionals located across our offices in North America (including New York, Toronto, Boston, Los Angeles, Vancouver, San Diego, and Washington DC).

Role Overview

The Vice President of Sales is a critical leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, shaping and executing sales strategies, and leading a high-performing sales function within our transportation consulting practice. This position will collaborate closely with our executive team to align sales initiatives with overarching company objectives, fostering strong client relationships, expanding market presence, and optimizing sales performance.

This role will be responsible for generating new business opportunities and requires deep expertise in the transportation sector, including an understanding of prospective clients, their needs, and how our firm can best position itself within the market. You will work closely with delivery teams to ensure seamless client transitions and effective management throughout the sales and project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the sales strategy & execution
  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies and processes aligned with the organization's goals
  • Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activities to optimize opportunities
  • Manage business development pipeline
  • Manage client relationships- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Lead negotiations for major deals and establish long-term contracts
  • Serve as first point of contact for new client relationships; originate and close leads
  • Set overall growth and go-to-market strategy
  • Collaborate with bids/marketing, delivery, and finance teams to align sales efforts with company objectives
  • Determine technical scopes and pricing strategies
  • Develop lead generation and client management systems
  • Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently
  • Monitor and control sales expenditures to meet financial goals
  • Set effective pricing strategy and negotiate with clients to ensure strong financial results
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Master's preferred, MBA a plus)
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation consulting
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role with proven track record of driving revenue growth
  • Established network of contacts in the transportation sector
  • Strong sales experience with proven ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies
  • Experience managing clients throughout the sales and delivery cycle
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with sales processes, CRM software, and sales analytics tools
  • Comfort with a 30% travel requirement in a hybrid work environment

Location

This position will be based in one of our key hub locations (New York, Los Angeles, or Toronto), with preference for East Coast candidates. We offer a hybrid work arrangement.
