Job Description

The Manager Operations, Oncology Services reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

In addition, the manager facilitates achievement of Oncology’s goals through coordinating program development efforts in clinical care, research and education. Responsible for coordinating all business services including staff modeling, program budget development, quality reporting and analysis, and financial preparation and analysis as warranted. This position is instrumental in providing key data for support of the Oncology service and assisting with the development of strategies to successfully compete for market penetration.

Collaborates with leadership to advance quality strategies, ensure a professional work environment, facilitate timeliness of services, and enhance patient satisfaction. The Manager is responsible for fiscal, human resource, and quality outcomes for their defined service area or unit. The Manager places the needs of the patient and other customers as a first priority and demonstrates the skills necessary to meet and exceed expectations. The Manager focuses others on a clearly defined, clearly communicated vision and engages individuals and groups to achieve that vision. The Manager identifies and develops organizational talent and embraces continuous learning of self and others.

Responsibilities:

  • Attracts, develops, and retains exceptional care givers and provides those care givers with an environment that fosters excellence through continuous learning.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and other managers to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Advances innovative retention strategies for staff
  • Collaboratively manages the disciplinary process when appropriate
  • Facilitates the annual performance review process
  • Ensure application of staffing tools
  • Manages people and resources to ensure safe and efficient patient care operations.
  • Collaborates with the coordinator to ensure optimal staffing and scheduling practices are achieved
  • Embeds innovative strategies to support a healthy practice environment that encourages break time and reduces worker fatigue
  • Partners with the clinical and non-clinical support services departments to ensure optimal patient throughput
  • Supports care coordination and response to operational issues
  • Ensures sustained Control phase of DMAIC for all process improvement initiatives
  • Ensures regulatory and billing compliance
  • Performs assessments and evaluations to determine approach to implementation of new processes, protocols, and procedures
  • Responsible for Environment of Care
  • Identify processes and outcomes which are important for customer satisfaction, technical quality, regulatory compliance or other institutional priorities.

  • Continuous Learning:
    • Continually examines ways to improve business relationships with customers, suppliers, community, etc.
    • Seeks and is open to new ideas from a wide range of sources; encourages others to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Additional Functions
  • Ensures all staff and shifts have appropriate supervision and monitoring to ensure effective, safe, efficient, productive and high quality operations.
  • Ensures a safe high quality work environment for the delivery of care and services.
  • Identify and manage cross-project dependencies and resolve conflicting priorities.
  • Facilitate and ensure cross-functional resource support for projects.
  • Advocates the use of effective and proven project management, quality process improvement methodologies and budget management techniques to support defined project objectives on-time and on-budget
  • Coordinates the development and execution of the operational/system implementation, and communication plans for various cardiovascular projects.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all customer including staff, physicians and vendors.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors the unit or service area’s capital and operating budget to achieve defined targets.
  • Creates annual operating budget and is accountable for monthly financial performance
  • Creates and implements capital request, replacements and departmental projects
  • Partners with the leadership to advance improvement initiatives and opportunities
  • Advocates the use of effective and proven project management, quality process improvement methodologies and budget management techniques to support defined project objectives on-time and on-budget
  • Coordinates the development and execution of the operational/system implementation, and communication plans for various projects.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all customer including staff, physicians and vendors.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Clinical healthcare experience, and/or experience in related field with substantial healthcare knowledge.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in healthcare.
  • The individual shall be qualified by training; experience, interest, demonstrated current ability, and shall be willing and able to discharge the duties of his/her office.
  • The individual shall possess, interpersonal, and time-management skills, organizational skills and a working knowledge of trends in Oncology disease.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in science related field or Business/Health Administration.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • At least 4-6 years in a hospital business management environment.
  • Working knowledge of adult Oncology and research populations.
