Freelance Graphic Designer and Animator

DescriptionWBBM-TV is seeking an enthusiastic and technically minded freelance graphic designer/animator to join our Creative Services Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating impactful news graphics, special graphic packages, and engaging on-air animations for a variety of media, adhering to the CBS brand. By contributing your creative talents, you can help shape the visual storytelling of CBS News, reaching a wide audience while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.Skills• Strong design and animation skills with proficiency in After Effects and industry-standard plug-ins.• Expertise in Adobe CC Suite and Mac OS workflow.• Excellent typography, design, and color theory practices.• Highly organized with the ability to follow instructions accurately.• Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.• Excellent time management skills, able to work unsupervised to tight deadlines.• Strong oral and written communication skills.• Sound understanding of post-production processes in broadcast.• Experience with Cinema 4D and/or VizRT is a plus.Responsibilities• Create impactful graphics for daily news and special packages.• Conceptualize and execute engaging animations for promos, shows, and digital content.• Collaborate with the Design Director and other team members to meet project requirements.• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.• Ensure all graphics and animations conform to the CBS brand identity.Qualifications• Bachelor of Arts Degree preferred.• 3+ years of relevant work experience at a TV station, network, or agency is preferred.• A current portfolio or demo reel showcasing abilities is required for consideration.Education Requirements• Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design, Animation, or a related field preferred.Education Requirements Credential Category• Bachelor’s DegreeExperience Requirements• At least 3 years of relevant experience in graphic design and animation in a broadcast environment.Why work in Chicago, ILChicago offers a vibrant cultural scene, a booming media industry, and a rich history.
