DEPT OF TRANSPORTATIONDriving the future of transportation with a diverse and innovative team!SPECIAL INVESTIGATORJob Location:Address: 1324 N. 22nd AvePhoenix, AZ 85009Posting Details:Salary: $66,483.10Grade: 20Job Summary:Under the general supervision of the Special Investigator Supervisor, performs statewide, national, and at times international investigations of highly complex nature, oftentimes involving multiple criminal offenses, working with a high degree of independence. Reviewing allegations, complaints or other information to determine criminal offenses that may have been committed. Conducting investigations, including but not limited to; theft, fraud, embezzlement, forgery, conspiracy, fraudulent schemes, political corruption, etc. Conferring with prosecuting attorneys regarding progress of investigations, quality of case files and evidence, drafts of subpoenas, warrants, etc. Preparing affidavits to obtain search warrants, arrest warrants, wiretaps, physical characteristic court orders. Individuals who have served honorably as a peace officer in Arizona and their certification as a peace officer has lapsed, or served in another state or federal agency, may be eligible to gain Arizona POST certification through Waiver Testing in lieu of attending an Arizona Peace Officer basic course at an academy. The selected candidate will have to complete the Peace Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT) prior to the background process. Background check and In-state travel is required.This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.Job Duties:• Reviewing information and documents; analyzing data, planning case strategy, maintaining case files and evidence; preparing casereports.• Interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects on the phone or in person. Travel as required, including state, interstate and international that may require overnight stay. Engage in undercover investigation operations, conducting surveillance of case suspects, investigative activity with other local, state and federal agencies.• Preparing and serving search warrants; conducting searches; seizing and securing evidence. Serving arrest warrants; physically arresting suspects and booking suspects into jail.• Conferring with prosecuting attorneys (e.g. Asst.
