The Role…

As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Game Scouting at Team17, will spearhead our efforts to identify and acquire new indie games for publication. This pivotal role involves evaluating game quality, identifying market potential and opportunities, assessing commercial ROI, and ensuring continuous alignment with our company's strategic goals.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with developers and industry influencers, negotiate acquisition terms, and collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure successful game launches.

What you will be doing…

You will identify and evaluate commercially pioneering games conducting thorough assessments of game quality, market potential, opportunities and alignment in collaboration with internal key stakeholders and company goals. Negotiating terms and agreements with developers for game acquisition and publication so experience navigating legal contracts is a must.

 

Build and maintain strong relationships with game developers, studios, and industry influencers through various channels, including industry events, online platforms, and developer networks championing Team17’s publishing offering. Staying up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies to inform our scouting strategies.

 

Work closely with the marketing, commercial and production teams to align scouting efforts with company needs and priorities. Acting as an evangelist for our games. Provide recommendations to senior management on game acquisitions and strategic decisions.

Lead and mentor a team of Game Scouts, providing guidance and support to ensure effective scouting operations. Developing and implementing scouting strategies and processes to ensure thorough evaluations and accurate assessments.

You will be responsible for preparing detailed scouting reports and present findings to key stakeholders and the Senior Leadership Team. Analysing data and trends to continuously improve scouting methods and outcomes.

 

What we want to see…

 A proven track record of games acquisition in a senior Game Scouting, Partnerships or Business Development role within the video games industry is essential to be considered for this role.

Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyse data, trends, and market insights to inform strategic decisions.

Passion for the video games industry coupled with a deep understanding of the video games industry, including current trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape.

Knowledge of game development processes and the ability to identify promising projects at various stages of development.

A true Leader able to inspire their team and our business by being an evangelist for our games.

The Interview Process   

Stage 1 (up to 30 minutes) You’ll initially meet with Talent Acquisition. This will be your chance to talk through your experience, whilst also having the opportunity to ask any questions.   

Stage 2 (up to 1 hour) You’ll meet key stakeholders to discuss the role and your background in more depth. This will include competency and scenario based questions.

Stage 3 (up to 1 hour) For the final stage there will be a presentation to members of our Senior Leadership Team (Topic to be decided).
