Overnight Camp Assistant Director of Families

For almost 20  years, Avid4 Adventure  has empowered pre-K- 12th graders with the skills and confidence to paddle, bike, hike, climb and thrive in the outdoors.  Each year we employ hundreds of Seasonal Staff to serve thousands of campers and our Directors and Assistant Directors are an integral part of this success. Each Camp Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient programs. They also provide mentorship and training to our Seasonal Instructors and are responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and memorable work environment.  If you are seeking meaningful work as a leader in our outdoor recreation community, we invite you to join us this upcoming summer!

We are hiring Assistant Directors of Families for both our Blue Sky and Windy Peak locations. 

In this role you will

  • Ensure a high quality experience for our families, going above and beyond in communicating and providing outstanding customer service.

  • Be a positive role model to our campers and staff, helping support them as needed, and taking initiative as a leader around camp.

  • Complete behind-the-scenes administrative work to include uploading pictures, printing camper emails, and responding to phone calls and email communication.

  • Provide excellent customer service to our parents by addressing problems immediately, communicating clearly and frequently, responding to parent survey feedback, and guiding staff on Avid4 best practices.

  • Organize and take lead on camper drop off and pick up days for each session.

  • Sub in as an instructor to provide breaks on an as needed basis.

  • You successfully develop and empower your instructors while working with them side by side, being present in the moment, and leaving the weight of work challenges behind you at the end of your day.

Your Background 

  • All Camp Leadership must qualify to drive camp vehicles, i.e.,  be 20 years or older by the start of camp with a valid driver’s license

  • Must have some prior customer service experience, and a high comfort level of talking to families

  • Must have demonstrated expertise in at least one of our core sports (paddling, hiking, climbing, mountain biking)

  • Must possess a minimum of CPR and First Aid Certification at the start of camp. Wilderness First Aid (or WFR/EMT) and CPR certification preferred.

Important Details

  • Work Schedule: Will work a 24/6 schedule to align with overnight camp operations

  • Position Duration: All camp leadership will be required to attend an in person training in Colorado May 9-11. Overnight Camp Training begins May 17; programs run June 1 through August 2.

  • Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, location, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. The weekly starting range for new Camp Leadership are as below: 

    • Overnight Residential Camps: $544/week (room and board provided!)

    • Relevant Certification Bonuses: $125 - $400 per certification (up to $1,000)
