Credentialing Specialist 1

Overview

*All positions are located in Fresno/Clovis CA*

 

We are looking for a Credentialing Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will coordinate, monitor, and perform the credential verification process for initial appointments, temporary privileges, provisional reviews, and reappointments of physicians and allied health professionals. Through training, you will be able to develop your skills in all aspects of initial credentialing.

The Community Health System is a locally owned, not-for-profit, public-benefit organization based in Fresno, California. Community is the region's largest healthcare provider and private employer. We operate a physician residency program with one of the nation's top medical schools – the University of California, San Francisco. We are home to the only Level 1 Trauma Center and comprehensive burn center between Los Angeles and Sacramento and also serve as the area's "safety net provider." In fiscal year 2020, Community provided nearly $175 million in uncompensated services and programs.

Responsibilities

In your role, you will: 

  • Verify competence, medical and/or professional education, residency, internships, fellowships, additional formal training, relevant board certifications, health care affiliations, work history, military experiences, professional references, licensure and certifications, DEA certificates, malpractice coverage and privileges the applicant is requesting.
  • Perform queries of the National Practitioner Data Bank as appropriate.
  • Manage expirables as appropriate.
  • Assist in research and defining criteria for new technology and privileges to present to department committees for appropriate review and approval.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
  • Associate's Degree preferred

Experience

  • 1-year previous Medical Staff experience preferred
  • Experience in a hospital environment preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPCS - Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred
