Role Overview


We are hiring for an exciting and impactful full time role, Lead Performance Technician, to lead in the creation and administration of our performance testing batteries within our sports science facility, and to help bring to life a key tier of our holistic human performance and longevity assessment. This is an incredible opportunity for those looking to get in on the ground floor with an organization on a mission to connect sport to health for avid athletes.


You will be responsible for the oversight and end-to-end administration within the sports science facility, producing key metrics for our medical and performance teams. This is a pivotal role, as you will represent the face of our company, and curate an incredible in-person member experience. The right candidate will be comfortable managing a team of fellow technicians, overseeing assessment operations, engaging 1:1 with elite athletes, explaining and conducting sports-specific performance tests in a way that resonates with the member. The candidate will be equally comfortable leading and mentoring teammates, creating and implementing standardized testing procedures, operating sports science technology, collecting and organizing data, and summarizing key learnings for internal stakeholders. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong background in customer relations, sports science and analytics, and coaching, alongside a deep appreciation of holistic health and wellness for performance enhancement. This role is local to New York City, and will report directly to the Head of Assessments.


Candidate Requirements:


Education & Certifications

- Master’s or PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field


Experience

- 5+ years experience as a Sports Scientist, Exercise Physiologist, or Sports Performance Coach at the elite level, using data to drive clinical/performance decision making

- 3+ years leading and developing teams, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing technicians or team members in a professional setting

- 2+ years of experience in a customer relationship role

Nice to have

- Prior experience directing or serving as the head of a sports science laboratory setting for elite athletes

- Personal experience as an avid athlete

- BONUS: Completion of an accredited Bone Densitometry course or designation as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT), with licensure to administer DEXA scans in the state of New York

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the administration of sports-specific testing batteries for members, including tests focused on mobility, motor control, strength, power, and aerobic capacity, ensuring consistency and quality across all technicians.
  • Master and uphold the standard operating procedures of the test batteries (setup, directions, cues), while training and mentoring team members to deliver a seamless and repeatable testing experience.
  • Supervise the organization of all data and results into the internal athlete management system, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across team submissions.
  • Lead collaboration efforts with the medical and performance teams, ensuring comprehensive understanding and alignment on each athlete’s performance (both quantitative and qualitative).
  • Stay current with advancements in performance testing and guide the team in refining testing batteries using an evidence-based approach.
  • Set the standard for creating unforgettable testing experiences for members (motivating, novel, engaging, meaningful, revealing), inspiring the team to deliver exceptional service that drives member engagement and retention.
