The Office of Advancement supports the mission of Georgetown University, its faculty, and students by developing relationships with key constituencies, connecting with alumni, and working with donors to help them know and understand opportunities for partnership with the University.

The Class Programs & Reunion Campaigns (CPRC) team supports the mission of Georgetown University by fostering lifelong engagement between Hoyas, both students and alumni, and Georgetown, and by increasing philanthropic support for the university’s future. The CPRC team works with over 800 alumni and student volunteers to increase class-based engagement and giving through peer-to-peer outreach. CPRC is, as a whole, responsible for establishing class fundraising goals, recruiting and developing volunteers, identifying donors, hosting world-class signature events (Homecoming Weekend and Reunion Weekend), and engaging alumni and students in class-based fundraising and engagement for Georgetown. The CPRC Student Programs team also works with campus partners to support undergraduate student organizations in fundraising and alumni engagement efforts, and leads the planning and execution of all Office of Advancement events in which it is strategic to have a student presence including, but not limited to, Homecoming Weekend, Blue and Gray Day, and Reunion Weekend.

The Assistant Director, Class Programs & Reunion Campaigns is responsible for the development and management of comprehensive and class-specific engagement and giving strategies and programs for undergraduate students, with a focus on the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes. This individual will develop and implement student programming and fundraising campaigns throughout the student lifecycle, beginning with programming targeted towards freshmen and continuing with programming for students through their junior years.

They will also plan key programs and aspects of Homecoming Weekend, Blue & Gray Day, and Reunion Weekend, and support all other CPRC Student Programs team projects. The Assistant Director, Class Programs & Reunion Campaigns will have duties that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement all aspects of comprehensive student philanthropy engagement and giving strategies, campaigns, and programs, focusing on freshman to junior classes while continuing to lead Georgetown’s One for Georgetown campaign, a top underclassmen giving campaign in the country.

  • Recruit, train, and develop 1634 Society student board members and trustees (general members of the student organization); provide ongoing, day-to-day tactical support for the 1634 Society).

  • Develop and successfully achieve external fundraising and engagement goals for the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes each year.

  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to build a culture of philanthropy among undergraduate students at Georgetown by educating undergraduate students about the importance of philanthropy to and for Georgetown.

  • Work closely with the advisor to the Senior Class Fund to effectively transition students from underclassmen giving campaign(s) and other student philanthropy programs to the Senior Class Fund.

  • Manage specific aspects of Homecoming Weekend, Blue & Gray Day, and Reunion Weekend, as well as work of CPRC Student Programs team supporting undergraduate student organizations in fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.

  • Develop partnerships and collaborate with various campus offices to promote lifelong relationships between students and Georgetown.

  • Collaborate with Development Officers and other Office of Advancement colleagues to secure challenge gifts and steward major donors.

Work Interactions

This Assistant Director, Class Programs & Reunion Campaigns will serve as the Advisor for the 1634 Society, an undergraduate student organization with the mission of celebrating Georgetown’s history and traditions, fostering connections between students and alumni, and engaging students in philanthropy on and for the Hilltop. As Advisor to the 1634 Society, this position works closely with a board of undergraduate students who lead the 1634 Society, and oversees all organization meetings, events, communications, activities, and efforts, with a focus on the importance of philanthropy education, building strong affinity for Georgetown, and meeting or exceeding fundraising goals. Applicants should possess exemplary interpersonal skills, a professional and intellectual prowess, demonstrated ability to meet or exceed goals, and an interest in higher education or non-profit philanthropy.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in higher education and/or a development/fundraising environment

  • Desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University

Preferred Qualifications

  • A proven ability and track record of high achievement, thinking strategically, and meeting or exceeding goals; proven ability to meet or exceed fundraising goals strongly preferred

  • Experience working with and/or leading students, volunteers, and/or customers and the ability to lead both by example and through instruction

  • Experience planning, executing, and managing events

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience developing meaningful, lasting relationships

  • Superior organizational, time management, problem solving, oral and written communication skills

  • Motivated, self-starter able to perform multiple tasks at once with minimal supervision

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively; intellectual curiosity

  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Experience and comfort with understanding and performing semi-complex metrics and analysis

  • Professional and collegial demeanor and ability to exercise diplomacy and handle confidential matters on a regular basis

  • Availability and willingness to work during non-traditional hours in support of student activities

  • Strong computer skills, including both Google Workspace and Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
