Job Overview


The technology that powers Mainspring’s Linear Generator is unlike any other generator technology on the market. The Linear Generator relies on innovative electrical power and control hardware systems to achieve its best-in-class efficiency while meeting the world’s strictest emissions requirements. These hardware systems are designed by a talented team of engineers that own hardware design from initial concept through test and manufacturing. We're looking for an enthusiastic intern to join the electrical engineering design team and help us shape the future of energy! Internship work assignments will emphasize troubleshooting and problem resolution, as part of a broader cross-functional effort to continuously improve our Linear Generator.


Responsibilities
  • Get hands-on experience troubleshooting complex hardware issues on R&D generators, on the production floor, and at field units
  • Analyze generator operating data to characterize problems
  • Lead failure investigations, including identifying near term containment activities, root causing problems, and implementing & validating corrective actions
  • Formulate roll-out plans to globalize corrective actions across our fleet of customer generators
  • Contribute to various design activities that may involve low voltage electronics, low and high voltage power distribution, power converters, high voltage batteries and more!
  • Learn and grow alongside a team of world class engineers!


Qualifications
  • An eagerness to work on a wide variety of assignments
  • Experience working in a team environment with ability to communicate across a range of disciplines and personalities
  • Electrical Engineering or similar major, with basic fundamentals of circuit theory
  • Hands-on knowledge of oscilloscopes, multimeters and other test instruments to measure electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency


$27 - $35 an hour
This position is onsite at our Menlo Park HQ. The hourly rate will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
