A Day in the Life

You will be part of a dedicated, experienced, and high-performing team at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) in Brooklyn Center, MN. At this facility, we design, develop, and manufacture components used in medical devices such as pacemakers, neurostimulators, implantable cardio-defibrillators and insulin pumps. The assembler role is responsible for the day-to-day production of components used in our various medical devices. You will be a key member of a manufacturing team that is dedicated to safety, quality, continuous improvement and achieving production goals. The 3rd shift schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 10pm-6am. It is also eligible for a $3.00/hr. shift differential.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations.
  • Works from visual aids, method layouts, diagrams, schematics, process flow sheets and written or verbal assembly instructions.
  • Sets initial layouts, and uses a variety of tools to prepare product(s).
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

  • Finer assembly skills with small parts.
  • Microscope experience.
  • Inspection and/or testing experience.
  • Ability to train in multiple areas.
  • Experience working in an clean room manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on, self-reliant, and strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with high personal motivation.
  • Work with minimal direction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • High awareness of the importance of quality and safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team focused work ethic.
  • Experience was fast production ramp-ups.
  • Basic-to-advanced computer literacy skills

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Requires minimum of 2 years of experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$37,200.00 - $55,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).

The starting base rate of pay for this position and location is $20.50 per hour. The base rate is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
