Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall product quality provided by our suppliers. This position provides both technical oversight and supplier quality management with a focus on managing and growing the capabilities of our suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements. Works closely with a cross functional team and suppliers to resolve major quality issues. Visits suppliers to understand their processes, controls and verify controls are executed as planned. Maintains systematic reporting and metrics for suppliers on their quality performance to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes data methodologies to measure, analyze and improve supplier performance and reduce supplier non-conformances
  • Monitors and maintains established quality metrics and guides supplier level or commodity level programs to meet or exceed established goals
  • Plan and conduct regular onsite audits with suppliers including onsite certification of product and processes
  • Perform or work within a given commodity and represent the requirements and capabilities of that commodity with a focus on enabling optimized supplier performance
  • Ensures measurement system for quality, costs, indicators, trends, and supplier ratings for assigned supplier base is maintained.
  • Ensure nonconformance (NC’s) and corrective actions are initiated in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Participate as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition supplier related nonconforming material reports as required and take ownership of processing SCARS.
  • Leads cross functional team to understand major quality trends and drive root cause corrective action with suppliers; support internal processes as related to the quality function including coordinating all supplier level communication for quality issues
  • Assesses risk and defines mitigation plans and drives implementation of control with the supply chain
  • Project Lead for key supply chain projects as assigned
  • Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed to support  the needs of the department/position
  • Key Driver in developing and strengthening a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Complies with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
  • Comply with all applicable legislation requirements

 

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the application and appropriate use of statistical methods and tools
  • Experience analyzing data to understand top nonconformance drivers and suggest options for supplier improvement
  • Experience working with and supporting Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Experience gathering data and performing a Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience working directly with suppliers or supplier management
  • Familiar with AS9102 First Article Inspection
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance as required
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and report writing software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization required.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Supplier Quality, Supplier Management

Security: U.S. Person required and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Travel:  Up to 50%
