Chief of Staff

At BuildOps, we’re building a groundbreaking software solution, purpose-built to support today’s commercial contractors. From helping our customers manage their service department all the way to project management, we’re breaking the mold and building a team that invests in our mission statement. We love driven, self-motivated folks experienced in tech start-ups and thrive in fast-paced environments. Could you be our next hire?

BuildOps is revolutionizing the $200B+ commercial contracting industry with modern technology built specifically for the trades. The Company has been rapidly growing, has achieved “Unicorn” status and is backed by top-tier investors. We’re building the future of operational excellence for the people who build the world.

The Role:

We’re looking for a world-class Chief of Staff to serve as a strategic right hand to our CEO and leadership team. This is a high-impact, high-trust role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves solving complex problems, and is eager to be in the room where big decisions get made.

Location: In-office 5 days/week in Los Angeles

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a thought partner/”right hand” to the CEO—help drive strategic priorities and keep the company aligned
  • Coordinate board materials, investor updates, and critical communications
  • Be the eyes and ears within the organization for the CEO
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and ensure execution across departments, with an emphasis on customer delivery and product
  • Own and refine internal operating cadence (OKRs, leadership meetings, planning cycles)
  • Dive into critical projects where gaps exist (strategy, operations, hiring, or crisis response)

What we’re Looking For

  • MBA from a top-tier school
  • 2–5 years post-MBA experience in consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), investment banking, or high-growth startups
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and business acumen
  • Comfortable with long hours, full-time in-office collaboration, and a high-performance culture
  • Low ego, high EQ: can operate with discretion, humility, and trust
  • Startup mindset: flexible, scrappy, calm under pressure, and deeply execution-oriented

Why Join BuildOps?

  • Gain experience in a rapidly growing, “Unicorn” status company with Tier 1 investors
  • Shape the future of a category-defining company
  • Work side-by-side with an elite leadership team
  • Build a network across top-tier investors and industry leaders
  • Be part of a mission-driven company transforming the backbone of America

What We offer:

  • 180k - 250k total compensation + equity
  • Generous equity grants - become an owner in our company.
  • A comprehensive benefits package.
  • Work from home stipend.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Daily lunch stipends in office.
  • Company events like BBQs and team-building activities, both in-person and virtual.
  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another (seriously, everyone is rooting for your success!)
  • The chance to get in on the ground floor and build something truly groundbreaking for ourselves and our amazing customers

About BuildOps:

BuildOps is a fast-paced, high-growth start-up committed to transforming a $300B+ industry through an innovative all-in-one SaaS platform. Leveraging the latest technology, we’re taking Commercial Specialty Contractors from the world of pen and paper to cloud-based, data-driven operations. Our leadership team has deep experience in both the Construction and SaaS technology industries, as well as a resume that includes Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Cornell, Microsoft, and multiple successful start-up exits.

BuildOps has more than doubled year-over-year while raising over $250+ million in total funding (Most recent, Series C - March, 2025). Top-tier investors like Meritech Capital, Founders Fund, Siemens, B Capital Group (BCG's venture arm), 01 Advisors, and more have backed BuildOps! Also, Dick Costolo, former CEO of Twitter, just joined our board, adding to an impressive group of investors/advisors including former President of Salesforce, Gavin Patterson; CAA founder Michael Ovitz; NFL legend Joe Montana; former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, and Boost Mobile CEO Stephen Stokols.

Forbes Magazine

“BuildOps is unique because it addresses the problem of efficiency in construction for an often-overlooked audience. Rather than focusing on large projects, or catering to owners, they look to the needs of technician-heavy subcontracting firms working in the commercial space.”

TechCrunch

“The new financing will be used to support the company’s continued growth. BuildOps sells software that integrates scheduling, dispatching, inventory management, contracts, workflow and accounting into a single software package for commercial real estate contractors with staff ranging from a few dozen to several hundred employees.”

Crunchbase

In a statement, [former NFL superstar] Joe Montana noted that his firm (Liquid 2 Ventures) has an investment thesis in supporting America’s working class… “I just love the idea of making their lives far easier and better,” he said. With BuildOps, “you have one solution that does it all and talks seamlessly to every single part of their business from parts to ordering to inventory and more.”
