About the Role

We are looking for an experienced product designer with an affinity for collaboration and user research to join us during this exciting time of growth and expansion. More than 20,000+ teams use Donut today to automate key workflows throughout the employee lifecycle. We also recently acquired Gatheround, an interactive live video platform that makes it easy to create dynamic event agendas and boost session participation.

This position will be based out of NYC with the expectation of being in our Union Square office 2-3 days per week (total amount of working hours for this position are flexible, with a minimum of 20), as our VP of Product Design and CEO both work out of our NYC office regularly and this role will closely collaborate with them.

Important note: This role shares an opening with our Product Design Intern position. We currently have one open design position but we’re open to the role either taking the shape of a mid-level consultant or internship.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work on high-impact, shippable features and products that users will access right away

  • Design flows, prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals for new features

  • Brainstorm with stakeholders

  • Conduct user testing throughout the design cycle and solicit feedback from the rest of the Donut team and customers

  • Continuously collaborate with the broader Donut team to design delightful experiences that our customers love

  • Work with Engineering to ensure a high-quality implementation and user experience

  • Join our regular PDE standups

  • Track the success of the product features that we launch and iterate based on metrics and customer feedback

About You:

  • 3+ years of experience in product design roles with a track record of designing and shipping successful products and launching features in a software development setting. Experience at fast-paced SaaS startups is preferred.

  • Experience in UX and prototyping tools like Figma

  • You have a portfolio to share with us showing work in web design and/or mobile applications

  • User centered: Your user is always at the center of your work and you care deeply about their experience. You enjoy simplifying complex concepts and can turn them into in-depth user flows and wireframes reflecting a range of options. You have a strong understanding of fundamental UI conventions and best practices and experience with research and testing.

  • Empathetic collaborator: You can partner with functions across the entire company to develop the strategy and rationale for features.

  • Skilled communicator and storyteller: You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can convey a compelling story around the work you do and how it relates to the broader company vision.

Also nice to have:

  • Frontend development skills: You have some familiarity with HTML, CSS, Vue  or React that you can bring to collaboration with developers, working on interactive prototypes, and ensuring design feasibility.

  • Comfort with ambiguity: You’re comfortable with adapting to evolving requirements and working without a rigid process at times, something that can come with working on a small and fast-paced team.
