Job Description

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining learning and development documentation to support Company system rollouts, including maintenance of current training materials as system updates are made. This role will be responsible for developing engaging and effective learning tools for a broad range of audiences, including front-line crewmembers, managers and those working at our Restaurant Support Office.

  • Applies instructional design techniques to develop best in class training materials
  • Defines learning objectives based on requirements and using sound instructional design expertise
  • Develops new learning courseware using blended learning solutions with a creative approach to design
  • Designs and develops training materials, including manuals, eLearning modules, quick reference guides and video tutorials
  • Ensures crewmembers and managers effectively adopt and utilize new systems, contributing to smoother transitions during technological implementations
  • Participates occasionally in system testing phases to understand functionality and user challenges
  • Translates technical system processes into user-friendly content
  • Establishes and executes project plans to successfully deliver projects on-time and within budget
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure quality and accuracy of content
  • Maintains and updates existing content
  • Acts as internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to training issues relating to assigned program or section area
  • Serves as an innovative expert for training systems and tools, staying current of trends and providing direction and assistance on the development of new and effective ways to train

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in instructional design or equivalent
  • Highly knowledgeable of instructional design standards and adult learning principles
  • Able to match effective learning methodologies with specific training needs and adapt style and presentation based on the learner
  • Able to convey technical concepts
  • Experience managing training programs for large-scale system rollouts
  • Able to develop and manage plans and timelines for both simple and complex projects
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities that may be constantly changing
  • Self-driven, flexible, and energetic with strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, including editing and proofreading skills
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently both independently and collaboratively
  • Skilled in the following:
    • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • InDesign
    • Articulate Storyline 3, Storyline 360 and Rise
    • Graphic design; Photoshop and Illustrator preferred
