Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated Infrastructure Engineer I with a foundational background in both network and systems engineering. This junior-level role will support our IT infrastructure by working alongside senior engineers to assist in managing network devices, servers, storage, and virtualization. This role offers a hands-on learning opportunity in a collaborative environment, perfect for developing skills in both network and systems areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in deploying, configuring, and maintaining network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Support the administration of server infrastructure, including both Microsoft Windows and Linux environments.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot network and system issues, escalating as needed.
• Assist in configuring and managing VLANs, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and basic Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking tasks.
• Support storage solutions (e.g., NAS, SAN) and basic storage configurations, including SMB and NFS.
• Help manage virtualization environments, including VMware or similar platforms.
• Perform basic scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task efficiency.
• Assist with maintaining network and system security practices, including monitoring logs and managing access.
• Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, ensuring accurate and accessible information for team members.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4-10 years of experience in a combined network and systems engineering role.
• Foundational knowledge of network protocols and configurations, including VLANs, ACLs, TCP/IP, and basic routing concepts.
• Proficiency in server administration in both Microsoft Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with storage technologies, such as SMB and NFS, and basic storage management.
• Basic experience in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear documentation and effective team communication.
• Certifications such as VCP, MCSA, CCNA, or equivalent are a plus.
