Position Overview

Apollo seeks to create value by engaging with Private Equity portfolio companies from the very beginning of our partnership – offering expertise, support and resources to help position each company for growth. Apollo Portfolio Performance Solutions (APPS) is a team of generalist and functional professionals, that apply the scale and expertise of Apollo to help build better companies across the Private Equity portfolio. 

 

The Role  

Within APPS, the Talent and Organizational Effectiveness function supports value creation through accelerating individual and organizational performance across portfolio companies, with a primary focus on management team and board level talent.  

 

The team is expanding and seeks a Principal level professional who is passionate about and experienced in the world of executive search. The primary focus of the role is to optimize Apollo’s approach to search and building the executive network across the private equity portfolio: including talent pipelining, candidate assessment and onboarding efforts across the portfolio. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Drive accurate and efficient outcomes for executive, board and advisor search across the portfolio 

  • Lead the build out of Apollo’s Executive and Advisor Network and program manage Apollo's flagship talent pipeline programs, including the design of new strategic initiatives 

  • Optimize relationships and terms with valued search partners, including ongoing assessment of search firm performance, and establishing productive relationships and engagements for a pipeline of top candidates. 

  • For select executive and high priority roles, participate in search firm status calls, assess candidates and advise on hiring decisions. For select Advisor and Board placements, conduct direct search with the support of a Talent Analyst and Apollo’s vast network of advisors and executives. 

  • Optimize strategic integration with and use of systems and platforms including Thrive, BoardEx, and other pipelining tools.  

  • Oversee reporting and analytics related to search 

  • Act as the SME for relevant playbooks and resources leveraged by deal teams and portfolio companies. Oversee upskilling of deal teams and other stakeholders with regards to search best practice, including interviewing and scorecard development and strategic board construction. 

  • Contribute to broader Talent team initiatives including the architecture of Apollo’s Talent review processes, to assess portfolio talent and identify search needs and development opportunities. 

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills: 

  • Talent acquisition, ideally via Executive Search experience. Industry agnostic, although exposure to an array of industries and roles (i.e. Board, CEO, other C-suite) is preferable. 

  • Extensive network across executive search firms and strategic pipeline partnerships 

  • In-house experience in a PE operations team and/or HR related consulting  

  • Advanced understanding of corporate and functional role architecture:  F500, PE Backed, Privately Held, etc. and strong understanding of the functional paths to each role 

  • Experience with onboarding and integrating talent management systems. Experience working with Thrive TRM a plus. 

  • Highly consultative with experience operating as a business partner to key stakeholders.  

  • Demonstrated ability driving results autonomously, prioritizing in a fast-paced environment, and managing multiple projects with strong process orientation.  

  • Outstanding trust-building skills and a consistent track record of working well as a member of a team.  

  • Attention to detail and operational rigor in helping design and build value across talent workflows, systems, and data. 

Pay Range

$250,000-$300,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
