Project Site Designer

Villa creates housing that empowers homeowners and helps communities flourish. We believe that families shouldn’t be broken up because they can’t afford to live in the same city. We believe that safe and comfortable housing shouldn’t be just for the wealthy. And we believe that the housing shortage can be solved through a visionary plan and hard work.

We build high-quality prefab accessory dwelling units in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible, and make the process easy for everyone. Every member of our team is dedicated to our mission of building housing that matters. And we always put our customers first.

We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home and invite you to join us.

We’re looking for a Project Site Designer to lead site design efforts across a range of projects, from small backyard ADUs to large-scale developments requiring full entitlement. The ideal candidate will work well in a startup environment, be self-motivated, and have good attention to detail.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about site planning at all scales, with a particular focus on large-scale entitlement and land development. If you’re excited about shaping the future of modular and manufactured housing communities, we’d love to hear from you!

What You'll Do:
  • Lead the preparation of site plans, permitting documents, and construction plan sets for a variety of project types, including backyard ADUs, multifamily ADU additions, and urban infill developments.
  • Coordinate AutoCAD drawings for projects and be responsible for the initial drawing setup. You’ll assist in file management, plotting, creating, and updating project drawing lists and general drawing management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including sales/acquisitions, development, product, pre-construction, project management and construction—to refine project requirements and document standards.
  • Contribute to the ongoing catalog of AHJ-specific documents and code requirements for Villa’s service regions.

What You Have:
  • Degree in Architecture or related field required, or 5-10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Google Workspace, Bluebeam software and ProCore.
  • Expertise in all phases of architectural document production and understanding the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages, from early feasibility studies to full permitting and construction documentation.
  • Understanding and application of CA and CO Zoning structures, ADU law, applicable building codes, and accessibility requirements.
  • Understanding of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry- associated standards is expected.
  • Understanding of zoning laws, land use regulations, and entitlement processes, particularly for large-scale development is a plus.
  • Specialized experience with multifamily residential, PropCo, and single family modular/manufactured homes a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing system design is a plus.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to take on tasks outside of your comfort zone.
  • Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to clearly communicate is a must.
