THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

POSTING DATE: 4/2/2025

SALARY RANGE: $120,166.00 - $198,106.00 ANNUALLY

BACKGROUND CHECK

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.

PROBATION

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide oversight for the Water Quality and Wastewater programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides oversight for Water Quality and Wastewater programs.
  • Formulates metrics targeted to increase the productivity and efficiency of the laboratory division of homogeneous/heterogeneous operational functions. 
  • Manages a staff of professional and technical personnel needed to meet water and wastewater quality standards.
  • Ensures the evaluation and implementation of plans required to accomplish current and future divisional goals and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or a related science from an accredited college or university.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have eight (8) years of senior management policy driven operational responsibilities including four (4) years of experience managing homogenous functions through subordinate supervisors. Have seven (7) years of experience in the chemical or biological analysis of water or wastewater.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures of business and public administration.  
  • Knowledge of standard office management methods. 
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others. 
  • Ability to present recommendations clearly and concisely. 
  • Ability to develop and install program procedures.
