$88,084.93 - $139,899.08

Position Summary:

Hiring Salary Range: 88,084.93 – 96893.42 depending on qualifications

Job Description

The Director is responsible for the strategy, direction and management of organizational and employee development projects, which includes improving organizational results through changes to culture, and/or ways of working. The Director also oversees the College’s Staff Training Department to formulate program offerings that meet the professional needs of the employees. The Director’s responsibilities also include creating resources as needed, and using available training tools, and processes to enable successful implementation of organizational development and employee development initiatives.
 

Working directly with the Executive Director of HR this position is also responsible for implementing the strategy, direction, and management of employee and labor relations at the College.
 

This work includes integration of existing HR and talent resources as well as processes such as competencies, onboarding, succession planning, performance management, and strategically aligning the work with all other aspects of the Human Resources and Performance Management Strategy. The Director will also provide consulting services to the HCC community and will serve as a strategic partner in facilitating organizational and employee development.

Job Duties:

  • Implements and Oversees Employee and Labor Relations Strategies and Processes.
  • Oversee the strategy of complex employee relations issues and labor relations issue.
  • Supervise and direct the investigation of employee complaints and grievances while partnering with legal counsel and the Executive Director of H
  • Develop and monitor tracking, dashboards and metrics for employee and labor relations issues, grievances, and disability accommodation
  • Counsel and advise managers on proper handling and documentation of workplace issues, disciplinary problems, performance expectations and other employee needs
  • Guide management on appropriate disciplinary actions to create consistency and ensure minimal legal risk by applying College rules and procedures to resolve issues and conflict resolution
  • Participate in both formal and informal labor relations meeting including resolution strategy implementation, grievance meetings and formal contract bargaining negotiations
  • Serve as a consultant to College administration and management on key issues
  • Creates and Manages Employee Development Strategies and Processes
  • Leads Implementation of Employee Development Projects, Initiatives and Programs
  • Provides Consultative Support and Services to HCC Community
  • Ensures Strategic Organizational Alignment with HR, Talent Management and Culture
  • Reviews HR policies as needed to align with updated laws as well as the College’s strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

The position requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of prior-related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a combination of performance management and organizational development expertise in higher education.
  • Six or more years of training experience, and at least one year of management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing and managing culture change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in leadership and performance management and effectiveness interventions, best practices, and applications.
  • Demonstrated success working with and managing cross-functional teams, committees, councils in identifying organizational development gaps, defining solutions, and managing the implementation with tangible results.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing organizational development models and assessment tools.
  • Experience designing and implementing effective training and development programs.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential, preferred.
  • General understanding of employee engagement and leadership development.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship building and executive presence.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and an ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Experience in leading and developing a team of professional employees.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employee laws and regulations.
