Technical Recruiter

About Nominal

Nominal builds software for continuous testing and operations of mission-critical hardware—rockets, drones, fusion reactors. We equip Engineers with a new software toolbox so they always know what happened, why, and what’s next. Our current team of exceptional engineers and operators previously built critical tools to keep soldiers safe, make $XXM financial trades automatically, or land a spacecraft on Mars. We're backed by mission-minded investors like General Catalyst, Lux Capital, and Founders Fund.

Nominal is intentional about culture: high-performance, thoughtful, deeply collaborative, and driven by our values. Every Nomineer is trusted with meaningful responsibility from day one.

As a Technical Recruiter, you'll partner directly with leaders across Engineering, Growth, and Operations to thoughtfully build their teams. You'll own end-to-end hiring for 3–5 critical roles at a time, personally managing candidate pipelines, deepening relationships week by week, and authentically communicating the life-changing opportunities at Nominal.

We're currently hiring two recruiters to scale our People & Talent team - one Type 1 and one Type 2.

Type 1: Obsessed with details, metrics, and continuous improvement. You turn recruiting into a precise, efficient machine.

Type 2: Obsessed with storytelling and innovation. You creatively amplify our voice to reach mission-aligned talent in unique ways.

🚀 What You'll Do at Nominal
  • Own 3–5 concurrent, high-quality recruiting processes that consistently deliver exceptional hires.
  • Own end-to-end projects and programs to improve our hiring practices or talent brand.
  • Act as a trusted thought partner for hiring managers throughout Nominal.
  • Build genuine, lasting relationships with candidates—you're their advisor, advocate, and guide.
  • Clearly articulate the value of startup equity, connecting long-term potential to candidate motivations.

🌟 Who You Are
  • At least 4 years recruiting at startups or high-performance organizations with a track record of rapid promotions and increasing influence.
  • Proven ability to build deep, trusted candidate relationships.
  • Your peers and managers consistently describe you as resourceful and reliable.
  • Aligned with our in-office culture—primarily based in our Austin, Texas office.
  • Ability to tell a compelling, authentic story to attract thoughtful, mission-obsessed talent.
  • Nice to have: Skilled at communicating startup compensation packages.

Type 1️⃣ Recruiter
  • You are obsessed with details, metrics, and systems.
  • Your standup pre-work sets the bar: crisp, data-driven, and always pushing to improve.
  • You believe recruiting excellence comes from structured processes and continuous optimization.
  • You create precise dashboards, pipeline analytics, and candidate tracking processes.
  • You constantly refine outreach messaging and processes to maximize engagement.
  • You uphold an exceptionally high standard for recruiting rigor and efficiency.

Type 2️⃣ Recruiter
  • You are a creative thinker and natural storyteller. You see recruiting differently.
  • You go beyond traditional methods—career fairs aren't your style. Instead, you craft creative experiences and compelling stories, ensuring Nominal’s voice reaches mission-driven engineers and operators wherever they are.
  • You invent creative recruiting approaches—events, partnerships, experiences—to build authentic connections and build a base of interested Nomineers.
  • You hop on a plane last minute to strategically position Nominal’s brand at a bespoke campus event, engineering communities, or talent hub aligned with our mission.
  • You continuously explore and experiment to find new ways to stand out.

✨ Benefits/Perks
