ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.


Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.



This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.



POSITION SUMMARY:


World Relief seeks a Grants Coordinator to further the mission of World Relief Durham by cultivating and expanding partnerships with current and prospective foundations and other grant-making organizations to fund World Relief Durham’s programs for refugees and other immigrants.  The Grants Coordinator will write, process and complete grant applications in coordination with agency program and finance staff, as well as associated grant reporting requirements after award.



ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Grant Writing & Management   
  • In collaboration with program staff, research, identify, and recognize funding opportunities that match organizational goals and priorities   
  • Conduct and coordinate research for background information for proposal development efforts   
  • Prepare LOIs for funding requests in collaboration with program managers and directors 
  • In collaboration with program, development, finance staff and Home Office, lead grant proposal development and submission; serve as the primary writer in the development of grant proposals that incorporate accurate data and appropriate stories into compelling narratives
  • As needed, assign work to external contractors to generate grant proposals in their areas of expertise; be ultimately responsible for editing and finalizing proposals to meet professional standards of excellence for all outgoing private grant applications
  • Create, design and implement processes and procedures related to grant management and proposal development. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective grants and award management workflow that includes setting up meetings with potential funders, tracking grants and awards through the various stages, assuring that all internal and external deadlines are met, actively collaborating with stakeholders inside and outside of World Relief Durham, and maintaining regular correspondence with prospective and current grantors 
  • Maintain library of grant support documents such as board of directors list, letters of support, resumes, job descriptions and negotiated indirect cost rate agreement   
  • In cooperation with supervisor (Development Specialist), establish, meet and/or exceed annual goals for the number of grants to be written at various award size brackets and amounts to be awarded     

  • Grant Reporting   
  • Facilitate communication with program managers and directors to ensure accurate understanding of program outcomes
  • Perform monthly quality control tasks to ensure accurate reporting to private funders
  • Work with applicable program staff to deliver funding reports that include an accurate account of outcomes and impact in compliance with report requirements   

  • External Communication   
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate site visits with funders   
  • Maintain relationships with funders and actively research opportunities to develop new relationships       
  • Other duties as assigned by the Development Specialist


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of grant writing and development experience 
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills 
  • Strong attention to details
  • Strong self-starter and ability to work autonomously while prioritizing within deadlines 
  • Strong team player, willingness to learn and ask for help, and demonstrate a growth mindset 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification or continuing education in grant writing, proposal development and/or fundraising is highly desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, database management, and grants management software.
  • Cross cultural experience preferred


$20.50 - $24 an hour
