Company Description

The McWane Ductile facility was previously called Atlantic States. Ten years ago, the facility changed its leadership team to create a culture focused on keeping employees and our environment safe. During this time, McWane invested several million dollars in safety and environmental related enhancements.

Recently, McWane Ductile was awarded the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Award.

This OSHA recognition is only achieved by 1% of the U.S manufacturing facilities. The McWane Ductile team is proud of this achievement in recognition of our world class safety practices and procedures.

 

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

General:

  • Creates and tracks employee disciplinary letters, manages spreadsheets
  • Assist the HR department in preparing for the corporate’s annual HR audit.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding company policies and procedures, and Union Contract interpretation.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to department heads on HR related issues and assist with the preparation of employee disciplinary/correction notices
  •  Assist with HR projects, training, events, and payroll as required
  • Contribute to company newsletters.
  • Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Communicate updates plant wide including but not limited to e-mails, posting, and kiosk screens
  • Organize hard and soft copies of employee records; assist with management of recordkeeping/employee files and implementation of electronic filing systems
  •  Coordinate employee satisfaction surveys and give actionable insights to improve employees’ experience
  • Process UC Claims, reconcile Quarterly Statements and manage hearings and appeals.
  • Assist HR Team with administrative tasks, generate and assign key fobs, issue boot slips, tool reimbursements, update electronic bulletin board, answer VOE’s, and update communication boards.
  • Manage terminated employee records
  • Manage Activities Committee and functions

 

Recruiting and onboarding:

  • Manage full cycle recruiting efforts for both Union and Salary positions both external and internal.
  • Responsible for sourcing, recruiting, scheduling interviews and plant tours, making employment offers, initiating background checks, scheduling physicals, and coordinating new hire orientations with the Safety department.
  • Update and create job descriptions. Manage new hires probationary periods, and notify leadership once completed.

 

  • Develop and maintain recruiting channels to maintain/improve staffing strategies.
  • Enter new hires in various systems such as UKG (HRIS), Brivo (Key Fob), and RapidCast (Mass Communication).
  • Assist in the coordination of staffing and recruitment processes

 

Administrative:

  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions according to HR objectives
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations based on data

 Systems:

  • Experience preferred with HRIS System, UKG, UKG Community
  • ATS, Smart Recruiters
  •  Identify and resolve payroll issues as they pertain to timekeeping, manage UTA and assist with implementation of UKG Time Management system, provide support and training for supervisors
  • Maintain data integrity of HRIS system.
  • Add secondary jobs and ensure accurate tracking in system

Niche specialties – ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following functions and/or strong commitment to pursuing one or more. 

  • Strong recruitment experience and/or
  • Experience in dealing with supervisors/management to provide strategic HR assistance and/or willingness to do so.
  • And/or an interest in focusing on training and development

  • Adaptability - Able to adjust to the needs of the organization by learning new jobs, changing shifts with short notice and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Interpersonal- Able to communicate and relate to others in a supportive, cooperative and results orientated manner.
  • Quality -Distribute iron to the casting floor to regulate and maximize iron temperature.
  • Safety- Follows all applicable safe job procedures specified in department job instructions; Follows all safe job procedures; Follows all applicable lock out tag out procedures; Keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Report to foreman any possible concerns regarding any unsafe equipment or working conditions
  • Teamwork- Able to work with people in any job to build morale and commitment to goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the human resources field.
  • At least two years of experience in HR Generalist duties
  • Solid grip on helping senior management, HR teams, and other HR professionals in strategic planning.
  • Professional certification preferred SHRM/HRCI

Physical Demands:

Indoor working environment, manufacturing/foundry, noise exposure throughout the day.

Exposure to dust, Essential physical requirements, such as standing and or sitting would be up to employee for most of the shift, stooping, or typing as well as bending and lifting is a possibility depending on tasks. Physical effort/lifting, up to 20 pounds; medium.  Weekly shift Monday through Friday with the occasional night or weekend work at most onetime per quarter.  Travel requirements, minimal.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles, such as dust. The office environment is climate-controlled with regulated heating and cooling. There may be limited exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally low and can be managed by the individual.
