About Sankofa Montessori

Sankofa Montessori embarked on its educational journey as a public charter school, receiving its charter from the Georgia State Charter School Commission in 2021. We officially opened our doors in July 2023, starting our adventure with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. As we chart our course, we added a 3rd grade in our second year and will be adding 4th grade during the upcoming school year, school year 25-26. Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication needs in a supportive and inclusive educational environment. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and provide direct services to students with speech, language, voice, and fluency challenges, with a focus on helping all students access the full curriculum and develop effective communication skills.

Role Responsibilities:

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language assessments for students referred through the special education process
  • Participate in eligibility and IEP meetings, providing professional insight on communication-related needs
  • Monitor student progress and update assessments as needed

Direct Services

  • Provide individual and small group therapy to students with IEPs or identified speech-language needs
  • Develop and implement IEP goals related to communication, articulation, language, voice, and fluency
  • Integrate communication strategies within the classroom to support generalization

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Work closely with general and special education teachers to support students in inclusive environments
  • Provide strategies and tools to educators and staff to promote language development across settings
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and support needs

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Complete IEP documentation, progress reports, and Medicaid billing (if applicable) in a timely manner
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and licensure requirements

Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
      • Valid state licensure and certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (or eligibility to obtain)
      • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred; CFY supervision available for eligible candidates
      • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
      • Experience working with school-aged children; experience in diverse or Montessori settings a plus

COMPENSATION

  • We offer contributions to the Teacher Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) in accordance with Georgia state law, as well as an additional, optional 403(b) retirement account.

  • A daily planning period and weekly student early release for teacher collaboration, student work analysis, and peer professional development
  • Materials needed to be successful in your classroom, including teacher/student supplies/laptops, etc.
