Performing Arts Program Manager

Reporting to the Office of the Provost, The Performing Arts Program Manager is responsible for enhancing and supporting the curriculum-driven mission of our Keene State College Arts Center. They work with academic departments to plan and coordinate events and programs for the Redfern Arts Center and work in collaboration with the Music and Theatre & Dance academic departments at Keene State to inspire culturally rich engagement with our campus and in the Monadnock region. The position supports the curation of Redfern programming and is responsible for contracting, coordinating, and outreach for events and programs. They also play a key role in collaborating with departments to seek grant support for the performing arts. All staff positions on campus support students and will be involved in student-focused activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

40%

  • Develop, create, and manage Redfern budgets in collaboration with the Operations Manager

  • Develop, communicate, negotiate, and finalize contractual details with managers, organize hospitality, and finalize details of residencies & events in coordination with Redfern staff.

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for all visiting Redfern artists.

  • Be present for Redfern Presenting Series and other guest artist events;

  • Supervise student workers, academic interns, and adjunct staff In collaboration with TAD, and Music Chairs,

  • Collaborate with the Theater Operations Manager and Technical Director to confirm dates, fees, and tech riders are complete and ensure the production goes off on time.

  • Assist with events including publicity, set-up, catering etc.

  • Coordinate hospitality, including meals and hotel accommodation for guest artists.

  • Create a logistics document for each event, including tech and space needs.

  • Act as the contact point for all Visiting Artist/college outreach collaborations.

  • Lead the curation of the Redfern Presenting Series in collaboration with Music and TAD.

  • Work to enhance interdisciplinary outcomes with departments across campus in alignment with Keene State and Redfern’s JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives for performing arts programming

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Identify and submit grant proposals in order to support and enable the Presenting Series

  • Seek grant opportunities in collaboration with KSC’s Advancement, Marketing & Communication, Redfern staff.

  • Manage grants, grant reporting, grant coordination

  • In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications office (MCO), create print ads, programs, poster design, video, and photo archives for the Redfern events

  • Create social media posts on Facebook and Instagram for Redfern and collaborate with other KSC site managers and MCO as appropriate

  • Write copy for website and ticketing software for all Redfern events Initiate, maintain, and facilitate relationships with community partners (senior homes, service org’s, schools, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain Redfern’s marketing database for promotional use ·

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 years related work experience

  • Work experience/professional experience in arts administration.

  • Proven track record presenting and/or producing live Music, Theatre & Dance with ability to curate programming for Music, Theatre & Dance as part of a larger institutional mission

  • Successful background in grant-writing, budget management, and seeking appropriate funding sources for arts organizations

  • Experience working with the performing arts or in arts management

  • Proven communication skills

  • Competency in technology

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of industry practice in areas of Theatre & Dance, Fine Art, or Music.

  • The ability to respond promptly and effectively to communication and feedback from patrons, arts organizations, and industry partners

  • Knowledge of working with college students and ability to act as a mentor to student workers and interns

  • Clearly outlined vision and goals for the fine and performing arts on a college campus

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
