HR Generalist

Yondr creates phone-free spaces for artists, educators, organizations and individuals around the world. Our mission is to create spaces where genuine connection, focus, and creativity can flourish in the absence of technology. 

Yondr’s business segments span numerous industries, primarily across education and live events. Yondr supports schools through cell phone-free programs. Our education programs facilitate the successful implementation of phone-free school environments by providing administrators and teachers with education, training, and development resources, along with all necessary equipment. In addition, Yondr supports top artists in music and comedy by creating phone-free shows, allowing performers and audience members to enjoy live performances without the distraction of phones.

About the role:

Yondr is seeking a proactive and skilled HR Generalist to join our team and contribute to various HR functions essential for the growth and development of our people and culture. This role will be integral in supporting our daily HR activities, from onboarding and benefits administration to building a culture aligned with our mission. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and bring a hands-on approach to supporting our team.

What you'll do:

  • Onboarding/Offboarding

    • Facilitate and manage the onboarding process, including ensuring all required documentation is complete, I9 verifications, coordinating system access, and providing a thoughtful and welcoming experience.

    • Partner with IT to ensure all technical requirements, including hardware and software setups, are fully prepared and in place before the new hire's first day.

    • Lead new hire orientation sessions to introduce company culture, policies, procedures, and benefits.

    • Regularly assess and enhance the onboarding process to optimize the experience and increase efficiency.

    Payroll and Benefits Administration

    • Process payroll accurately across bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly pay cycles, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and attention to detail.

    • Track and document all payroll adjustments and changes.

    • Review and approve hourly employee timesheets, verifying accuracy and in accordance with labor laws and company policies.

    • Process final paychecks in adherence with state regulations.

    • Complete unemployment claims, respond to state information requests, process garnishments/liens, and submit end-of-year reporting.

    • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, and addressing employee inquiries.

    Record Keeping and Process Improvement

    • Maintain accurate and current employee records, including HRIS data entry and updates, while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

    • Track and monitor state-required training completion and following up with employees as needed.

    Employee Engagement

    • Manage the HR inbox and serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, offering guidance and support on HR policies, benefits, and procedures.

    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of employee programs.

    • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by supporting employee engagement initiatives, organizing team-building activities, and coordinating recognition programs.

What you'll bring:

  • 2+ years of HR experience, ideally in a startup or fast-growing environment.

  • Understanding of HR principles and best practices.

  • Proficiency in HR softwares a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
